Why Lard is the Best Choice for Baking and More

There are so many opinions and feeling about all the different oils that exist in the world. It can be overwhelming.
We have LOTS of these 2 lb packs of rendered lard from our outside raised Berkshire pigs.
We know that coconut, avocado, olive, and peanut oil are not being produced in Iowa! In terms of an awesome cooking and baking option, our rendered lard is probably as local and sustainable as it comes.
We highly suggest doing your own research on the benefits of using lard.
Here are some of the reasons we absolutely love cooking and baking with our lard that comes from our heritage breed Berkshire pigs that live outside-- 
1) It's can be in vitamin D (especially from pigs raised with access to sunlight) 
2) It's got a high smoking point
3) We promise you will never have a better baked good than one made with lard
Just like with any oil, moderation is key, and lard has unfortunately gotten a bad rap even though it truly is one of the best animal fats out there! We highly encourage you to give it a try!
